Cougar King will like having a UH guy here.

This guy has some deep Texas family coaching ties he is the nephew of Gary Joseph the HC at Katy (5 state championships) and was at one point head of the Texas high school coaches assoc.

Magnolia West developed into a strong team in the last few years.

He's also the brother of Katy's great coach Gary Joseph.

Could create quite a Houston area pipeline.

I was incorrect, Katy's Gary Joseph is his Uncle...

Played under Briles at UH. Looks like Littrell is trying to continue a shift to more of the Briles uptempo attack, first with Wallis, now Blake.

I like it. The tempo improved mightily last year, and we have a QB with a big arm to run that sort of offense.

Blake played HS ball at Bryan who was in our district and a great rival of Temple’s.  I went to RC Slocum camp as a receiver and caught from him a ton.  Interestingly, Sumlin oversaw most of those sessions.  He threw a very tight, hot ball.  Great great passer.  This is awesome news.  Welcome Blake!

Are we back to hiring high school assistant coaches again for key positions? How did that work out for us last time?

Obviously not even remotely the same hiring a position coach compared to head coach

Or even hiring one as a coordinator.

I don’t see any issues with this hire.

I know I was stretching it a bit with that comment, but I was referring to the high school coaches that were hired as coordinators, etc., under Todd Dodge.  It was pretty disastrous.  Guess I still have PTSD from the Dodge years.

To make you feel better when you think of a position coach think about Patrick. He's been a solid RB coach

Three strong recruiting ties make me totally fine with this.
