Brian Stewart- current Baylor cornerbacks coach. Has more ties to Texas as former DC at Houston, also was DC and interim HC at Rice. Lots of experience coaching DB's both in college and in the NFL.

Rocky Long- current DC at New Mexico. Checks all the boxes, but would only have minimal TXHSFB ties. His daughter is currently a professor at UNT.

David Gibbs- current DB coach at Missouri. Most recently had DC and interim HC experience at Tech and Houston.

Joseph Gillespie- current DC at Tulsa. Spent 20 years at Stephenville as HC and also worked under Art Briles and Chad Morris. This would probably be my pick if I had to guess who this was about.

I'm sure there are a handful more, but these were 4 guys who checked the boxes.

Patrick Toney at ULL checks all but one of the boxes, but will probably get snatched by a P5 this off season.

How soon do you expect an announcement? I would imagine it would have to be fairly quickly to start game-planning, recruiting, and hitting the transfer portal for guys that fit his scheme.

I don’t think he would interview unless he was interested, but there is a small army of board members that believe they would interview simply to leverage other opportunities.

I don’t go down that rabbit hole.

Coaches (and many other professionals) interview for leverage. Or at a minimum it can be a win-win for them. Either get the offer that makes you walk away or use the offer for a better deal.

NEWARK – The Delaware football coaching staff continues to undergo restructuring with the announcement this afternoon that Chris Cosh has stepped down as the Blue Hens’ defensive coordinator.

Earlier in the day, UD head cach Danny Rocco announced that Rich Yahner has been hired as Delaware’s linebackers coach. Last month Bryan Stinespring was hired as assistant head coach and offensive line coach.

Cosh was the Hens’ defensive coordinator for the past three seasons.

“I’m incredibly appreciative to Coach Rocco and (athletic director) Chrissi (Rawak) for giving me the privilege to coach these student-athletes over the past three seasons,” Cosh said in a press release. ” I will miss the student-athletes, coaches, administration and community. This was a very difficult decision, but I look forward to having opportunities closer to my family.”
“We’re grateful for everything that Coach Cosh has done for our program and our student-athletes of the past three-plus seasons,” Rocco said. “He was a tremendous asset and worked incredibly hard to help us achieve our successes. We wish him and his family nothing but the best.”

Between Mendoza, DeLoach, Cosh, and Bowen, just really goes to show how good Skladany was.

We have had some absolute horrendous DC hires in the last 15 years

I guess we have a Mendoza line in college football just like MLB. Unfortunately they all seemed to coach here or Texas Tech .
