DRC: Myrtle Beach Bowl coverage -- Littrell: "We need to find a way to win these games"

What sucks is we all know it's not going to magically get better in one off season, no matter how young we were this year. Seth is ultimately the one responsible for who we sign and how many at each position. He has to be the worst defensive talent evaluator among all FBS coaches.

You can see how bad he screwed up the numbers at each position and any shot at a team with depth by looking at the 2016/2017 classes. Aside from Darden, Torrey, Tyreke Davis, and Novil (who really flamed out in the last few games) there is very little talent in the senior class. Hair-Griffin, Colvin, Pirtle, Smith, Frow, Evan Johnson are just dudes. Sanders and Cam Johnson played a lot of snaps, but they weren't very good and that's it for the senior class. I would hope both of them get their degrees and we see new players at safety next season.

The junior class has 5 offensive lineman who have played a lot of snaps but KD Davis and Tre Siggers are the only others that have made an impact. Alex Morris, Greg White, Quinn Whitlock, are Chris Thornton are the other scholarship players. It's hard to imagine these guys making a huge jump in their fifth year here besides Morris who is a true junior.

The reality is it's all on the young guys signed in the last three classes if we want to compete for a conference championship next season. That is where the talent is, even in a down year we've seen a lot of them flash. We should all hope they develop quickly.

SL isn't fixing this in 1 year. Therefore, his ship has sailed. He'll be paid his egregious 1.8M and we'll go 3-9/4-8 next year and some naive boosters will be wined and dined and made to feel important while getting fleeced out of the buyout money to push SL out.

Things didn’t work out at LSU this year but I would love to see Seth hire Bo Pelini with his 4-3 base defense approach. I get that if he came here it would likely only be for 1-2 years but it would sure help to land transfers this offseason. We have a direct line of communication to Bo if we want to kick the tires...

"(Pelini's) got the ability to play any defense that's ever been created," said North Texas special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler, who worked with Pelini coaching linebackers at Nebraska, LSU and Oklahoma. "You get into spring ball and he's like a mad scientist. He always wants to look for the next thing. He's always tinkering with stuff."

And then the cycle starts over again...at least it won’t be due to Wren Baker wrapping himself in 17 people’s wallets to keep his job for years and years. And we have Smatresk as President who seems to actually expect an AD to accomplish something besides stay in a measly budget like the administration did for all the years before he arrived here.
