Once again the best team from the G5, Cincinnati, is left out. Unless they expand the playoffs and dedicate a slot for the top G5 team will a G5 team make it, or will they always be left out? My thought

8 Teams

  • 5 P5 Conference Champions
  • 1 Highest G5
  • 2 At large

If they do not designate a G5 slot, I believe they will continue to do everything they can to keep them out, especially if the "best" G5 is not from the AAC or MWC.

This seedy group at the top wouldn’t even let fresh blood and all their Texas eyeballs into the party. It’s so dirty and I’m only glad we will get to see a Clemson Alabama rematch. Notre Dame is as fraudulent as you know what,  and Ohio state will get properly dismissed by Hair.

Just gonna enjoy this gift of a Mean Green game tomorrow and get excited about next year!

Seems like when there is a talk of a G5 playoff many start talking about how terrible that would be. Guess I disagree. For us to keep acting like we are part of the same "group" is textbook definition of denial. I would like to see a group of the top G5 teams play in a playoff. If you took four teams it would only take up three of the exiting bowls.

Good way to also make some $$$! Have playoffs games at school sites!

It's all about money. They do not want and never will give us any piece of the pie. Initially I was against it but for the G5 to gain any sort of relevance, there needs to be a break from P5. Continuing with the status quo will only worsen the current P5 - G5 divide.

I can’t wait for the day when this happens. Alabama has nothing in common with UAB. Texas has nothing in common with us. Tennessee has nothing in common with MUTS. Let those guys officially have their own level and let our guys play in a setup where our players, coaches, and fans can actually celebrate a true national championship. Again, the G5 level is the only one that doesn’t give their teams a chance to be a national champion.

The playoff scene at a G5 level this year would be super interesting. Also give independents an opportunity to play up or play at the G5 level. Let the New Year’s Day 6 take Cincy, that still leaves San Jose State, UAB, Louisiana, Liberty, Coastal Carolina, Army and possibly BYU  an opportunity to win a trophy!  Other suitors for the party this year include Tulsa, Marshall, Appy State, Boise State and Ball State or Buffalo. Those fans would travel like they do to a bowl game.  Or work it into a bowl game format.

Soccer has multiple routes to win trophies and that helps build and develop a program. It also give MORE fans an opportunity to celebrate good times good wins.
