Yep.  A week of practice in front of NFL coaches, scouts, and media is WAY more valuable, not to mention the opportunity to work against that level of competition.

Also, he would not be helping his team at all dressed in street clothes anyway.  He'd likely serve as more of a distraction.    I bet the coaches wouldn't bring him even if they could.

 

EDIT:    I think he made the right call.    I ain't mad at him.

Since he is not a part of the team anymore, any booster, street rando, non-university employee, can pay for him to go on their dime.

I suppose they could!
He'd still be a distraction if he were down on the field with his teammates... not suited up.

Not so sure about that.  Otherwise, boosters could give players $100,000 (or whatever) at their graduations.  Then players could know they're getting "deferred benefits" when they sign with certain institutions.
