After the Rice Owls 20 to Zip win over Marshall I am prone to never say never. 
If the North Texas “D” that showed up at Middle Tennessee & Apogee Stadium for Rice U. shows up who knows. A win would be so nice, but our young players will have the experience of a lifetime in South Carolina. 
••• Hope some will wait until after national signing date on Wednesday to burn UNT’s barn down to kill a mouse because these HS kids do read these forums.

This will be a very interesting to see how SL handles prep for this. Right now, this looks like it will be a complete mismatch, but bowls can be crazy...

I was worried about this until I realized that the teams will get there only to find that the 'bowl' is really just a seminar about exciting investment opportunities in waterfront condos.

For anyone complaining, would you have rather the team not go to a bowl at all and miss out on a payout and more game experience for the young players??

People keep mentioning a payout but we won't make much from the game. We'll receive a little bit but most goes to the conference office to be split between CUSA schools (Reason #257 that this conference is too big). @Arkstfancould probably explain it better but after expenses we may barely break even since there will be minimal attendance.

Yeah breaking even is a good outcome for any bowl where you aren't selling 5,000+ tix to the fans at face value.

The exposure and extra practice is the real value, though the jokes above about cough syrup and condos are pretty good value too :)

I would guess we are paying to play, much like our CBI invite. Hopefully Don Vito and/or Brune do some digging.

Umm, I think this is the one bowl game that  it’s completely understandable if we get beat. They are way better than us and have about 10x less travel than we have to make for this game.

Hard to have faith this won't be a blowout, but hopefully Darden plays and he runs up his receiving records. Get this man any extra exposure possible. He deserves to be drafted to an NFL roster.
