Coming to the game here the Mean Green and Miners have both had some good offensive runs on the year. The problem for the Miners is they have dropped 3 games in a row on the year so far. The Mean Green have lost 2 games in a row and while they did lose they were unable to really keep the game that close. Look for the Miners to be able to break their losing streak in this game. Final Score Prediction, UTEP Miners win 34-21.

What I would like to see:

1.  The offense to get creative and to play with confidence.

2.  Bean to spread the ball around.

3. A set with Bean at QB with Torrey and Adaway lined up to each side of him.  Run the option and disguise which direction the play is going.

4.  Disciplined, aggressive defense.

5.  Try a four man front with Novil and LeBlanc at DT with the Murphy twins at DE.  Blitz, stunt and twist UTEP to death while our corners play press coverage.

6.  We have nothing to lose, play like it.

Surely we haven’t fallen so far that we can’t beat UTEP at home...I mean, we got mud holed by UTSA down there, but we have beaten Rice here already. If we fall behind both UT-satellite schools, I fear for what the next year will look like.

If SL continues the same play calling and our defense continues to play a 3 man front it won't be good. UTEP was playing decent at the beginning of the year so if they can over come COVID personnel losses and they have practiced when they said they weren't...hey you never know.

But I'm a homer so NT pulls out a 1-3 point moral victory.

UTEP has lost some great players in the secondary, and they are overall bad on defense. We need to get going fast and don’t give up.

UTEP has 1 main guy on offense IMO, and it’s Deion Hankins the Freshman RB. Dudes like a bowling ball, so I hope our front 6 is ready!

UTEP has had RB's that have done well against us in the past. Hankins worries me as we have been making RB's look like "All-Americans" this year. 

We are 15-8-3 all time against UTEP. Average score has been 23.9 to 17.1 for a difference of 6.8  ....

I have an ugly feeling about this game.  I think UNT is prime for another low point in our history.  This, being the close of a disappointing season and tons of uncertainty about SL, is prime for another stake-in-heart kind of loss.

The problem is our QB's are so bad that Darden is often the only target. Seth has called more than plenty of one receiver routes for Bean/Aune.

We have teams on opposite sides of the equation here with little to hang their hat on coming into the contest. North Texas has a great offense but their defense is a train wreck. The Mean Green is fourth-worst in the nation in scoring defense and gives up 511 yards per game in total offense this season. UTEP has had problems on the offensive side of the ball this season but they are a middle of the road defense. Given how poor North Texas is at actually stopping anyone on the defensive side of the ball, you have to be concerned about their chances of doing that here. Take the Miners as the “home” team with the points in this contest.

Bean runs for 100 yds and passes for 200 yds

Darden add 2 more tds and over 100 yds receiving

Torrey, Adaway both have over 70 yds rushing

On the other hand, losing to UTEP would made this season a much greater disaster

UTEP now has all 4 of their starting DB's out and in the transfer portal. Plus, UTEP will not finish this season with a winning record, so that also works in our favor. Not saying we will blow them out, but we should be able to pull out a win at Apogee on Friday.
