If you remove Rice's first two drives of the game, we held them to 231 yards.  If you go further and remove Rice's last drive when they scored late once the outcome was secured, we held them to 151 yards.  Couple this with the second half of the MUTS game and we are headed in the right direction regardless of opposition.

Rice isn’t very good but they’re tough and disciplined and I think that was a solid win. Sack will be more talented and they always get up for us, but I think we are seeing this team grow up quite a bit and finally healthier in spots.  The key to me is can the defense continue to play well enough?  All remaining games are very winable .

If you think any win is because the other team is weak, at what point do you change your view:  CUSA championship, bowl win or national championship?

This year with all the virus impact, it is difficult to evaluate anything.   However, IMO NT is getting better on defense to go along with already one of the better offenses in G5 land.

The game away against UTSA looks like the biggest regular season test left.  UTSA is double tough in San Antonio and it is the closest thing NT has to a rivalry game, admit it or not.
