His 5 TFL's were second only to Booger's 6 for the school record.  If the refs had been calling holding in the second half on the Rice center, he would own that record.

I was going to bring up Booger also. I felt it was as dominant of a game defensively as I have seen from one player since the Booger man. As a NT fan post-Mean Joe Greene, there is no better compliment than to be compared to Brandon Kennedy.

Amazing performance, best defensive tackle play since a few of Booger's games.

A dt duty is usually just to stack up the middle and let the lb's make a tackle.  Greene, Booger and Walter Chapman attacked in the offensive backfield.  It takes rare talent to consistently do that.  Novil obviously accomplished that against Rice.

Well deserved. As good as the stats look, the eye test of play-to-play was even better, because even in the plays where he didn't get there, he influenced the play soo much in favor of the rest of the defense.

I'd get it if he left for the NFL at the end of the season, but he would be missed. And with all the rest of the defense likely progressing, his numbers next season could be through the roof, as O-lines will be less able to just zero in on him.

Glad he is getting recognized.  I remember the BTG episode that talked about him and how his family home burned in Abilene. Seems like a good young man.
