I still think that was the best team we have fielded since the Fry days. That team could hit, tackle, and pressure the QB. We had a solid offense, too. A 9-win team that could’ve easily won 11 games if we made plays at Ohio, Tulane, and at home against UTSA, which cost us the CUSA West division. But that team was as good as anyone UNT has ever rolled with.

It was the most physical UNT team I had ever seen.  Will never forget the Ball State game that year.  UNT made them quit.

That game was something else. We destroyed their will to play football

Kenny Buyers man... Never had a doubt every time he made an open field tackle all alone.

He was best I've ever seen when it came to that hog tie tackle.

👍👍

Been watching MG football since 1973 & I’ve never seen better, either, eeeeagle.

GMG!

It makes me frustrated about McCarney because he could have made it big here. He took the talent Dodge had assembled and taught them how to be an actual college team. But recruiting was his bugaboo and his offensive style was almost leather-helmet like, especially after Derek Thompson left. That DMac thought that McNulty or Greer were FBS level QBs was proof of just how far the program fell after those Dodge players graduated.

AGain, its so UNT to go bland offense (Dickey), to no defense (Dodge), back to bland offense (DMac), and now back to no defense again with SL.

Vividly remember this game. Was watching it while handing out candy in my garage. Pretty sure after the 5th play or so I just handed the bowl to some kids and shut the lights off. Hugely memorable moment

I was in the other endzone for this game on the front row.  THAT was a fun night in Apogee for sure.  Probably my second favorite memory in that stadium, right after The Drive.

The underrated moment from "The Stand" that makes me laugh every time is Big Dick Abbe laying on the turf with a Rice OL on top of him begging for a penalty.  Cracks me up every time.
