Agree with you both. I was shocked to see that we were 3rd in the nation though.
3rd offensively with a 1-3 record tells ya we’re most likely last defensively!

And how many points does that add up to?

They’ve put up 35, 31, and 21 in the last three games...and going into the 4th quarter (when it was already over in all three games) those scoring numbers were 21, 17, and 14.

Your point?  Yes if we’re only counting points for 3/4 of each game (btw even more points if special teams played better). Those are enough points for a team to win more than 1 game if their defense is halfway decent and not giving up 30+ per game. (Last 3 games we’ve given up 65, 41, and 49 points)

Empty stats against one FCS and two of the worst defenses in G5. When we need a big first down or sustained drive to rest our gassed defense we usually fail. The reality is we have enough poop sandwiches in the picnic basket for everyone.

And THIS is why I was never that impressed with all the gaudy numbers that Fine put up.  They never translated into significant wins and therefore championships.....or bowl wins.

And what is the constant in this?

Compare the amount of pressure MF was under all year compared to what our QBs have experienced this year.
