The writer is to young to remember The Mug and Pitcher, The Texas Pickup, Rogers Bicycle Shop, The Library, etc. Many businesses were bought out and replaced by Campus Bldgs etc. that she benefits from.

And, too ignorant to do any real research on the topic.

Keep in mind most of what is posted from the NTD is opinion pieces, not actual reporting. Sadly, from all sides, what was once reporting has become personal agenda messages where you either accept the writers version or you are wrong.

"However, the university’s attempt to seem like it supports local stores is an insult to the Denton businesses that it has deliberately targeted and/or shut down out of corporate greed."

At least the writer is off to a good start as a modern-day "journalist"  parroting the handy tropes undoubtedly learned in class through endless repetition.

As a state-supported University, it is your Texas state government doing this not an evil corporation.  Only governments can exert eminent domain.

WTH are kids being taught these days?  SMH.

These are students, still learning, give them a break.

I am sure the quality of the paper would *not* be different if we pulled up the microfiche from your time at NTSU.

You are right they are still learning and many are very impressionable. This reflects strongly on what their professors are teaching. Agenda driven education (from any side) can greatly impact and influence a students work

Under the direction of a professor/editor that let's these inaccuracies go to print.  The again, it is an opinion piece.
