A well connected Mean Green fan told me that last season or the previous season would see a trained dog running out to retrieve the kicking tee after Mean Green kickoffs at Apogee.  I never saw it and never heard anything more about it.  I wonder if anyone here knows about this rumor or perhaps the conference has a rule prohibiting canine participation on the field of play.

GO MEAN GREEN

As it turned out it wasn't a dog. I don't know how that rumor got started. It was actually a white squirrel that was to debut at Homecoming last year and on the Friday before the game it was run over by a commuter bus. Some students wanted to bury it at Apogee with its head facing the scoreboard but those that wanted to send it to Squirrel Valhalla by cremating it on the Bonfire prevailed. The WSPS (white squirrel preservation society) was so distraught that their float did not participate in the parade.
