The 2020 season for Conference USA is headlined by uncertainty in the East Division and a clear front-runner in the West. UAB is Athlon’s projected champion in the 2020 Conference USA predictions, with coach Bill Clark’s squad anchored by a strong defense and an offense poised to improve with a healthy fall out of quarterback Tyler Johnston III and running back Spencer Brown. The East is one of the more difficult divisions to predict in college football. WKU is Athlon’s pick to win it, but Marshall, FAU and Charlotte should all be in the mix.

Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech headline the next tier in the West Division, followed by Rice and North Texas as potential bowl teams. UTSA and UTEP round out the bottom of the West. Middle Tennessee and FIU should push for postseason trips out of the East, but Old Dominion is likely a year away from contention.

Athlon Sports has released its preseason magazine for 2020, and now it's time to preview and predict the conferences. Below are Athlon's picks and projections for Conference USA in 2020:

If NT does as bad as everyone is predicting, then they are paying the wrong coaches CUSA big money.   

What happens after a four win system, but most of these prognosticators are just lazy with their research.  Look at nothing but who returns and spend maybe a couple hours research on the whole league.

I doubt a season even happens in the fall. Maybe the spring, but who knows...

But if there is a season and we play 12 games, us being around 4th or 5th I’m CUSA West seems very reasonable. Thank God for the UT-spares in our division.

      UNT enrollment declining

      I'm sure the Master's programs that UNT is seeing enrollment drops in are the university's top profit center. Their student population probably uses the least amount of on-campus resources during the program compared to undergrads and PhDs, and they're probably overpaying or seeing less student aid usage to be in the programs. The flip side of the coin is that it's entirely possible that people are starting to realize that employers don't really care about Master's level paper as much as they did 20+ years ago. As the state of the world is going this week, if there is a prolonged economic downturn and a depressed hiring market for undergrads, most universities generally see an uptick in kids graduating and keeping on with it into a Master's program. I would advise undergrads that they're lighting money on fire, but if you can't find a job or start paying on loans, it can seem like a real option to keep learning. Will it result in a higher level of pay once they first time enter the workforce? Probably not, especially in today's world of AI threatening lower entry-level jobs, and H-1Bs threatening the rest. But the average Gen X parents will still push University degrees as a solution to all their unemployed kids' problems, just like the Boomer parents did before them.

      Great bar environment and even better seafood restaurant next door. If you want a killer Italian Meat sandwich, arrive early enough to get one from Enzo's next door. Points if you sneak it into the Wilfred. 😅 Kudos to getting them to change the door pincode. I think it had been set to the year of Woodstock since the Wilfred opened.

      Is it lateral if: TX State goes to the PAC-Reboot with one other AAC Team that isn't us Memphis and USF go to the ACC UTEP is in Mountain West We're suddenly playing Sam Houston and Tarleton State in a combined AAC-USA? That's nightmare fuel for me, and seems entirely possible if Mosley keeps on Mosleying along with status quo.

      Oh gosh. I grabbed a couple of tickets on Wednesday. Purchased them through UNT to do the green and white a solid. I guess 'Tier 3' means Toilet Level seating. Me and my guest will have an awesome view of the Tulsa band with these seats. Good grief. You know how you go to the Super Pit and inevitably someone is sitting in your seat when you get there? Yeah, I apologize in advance if I do it to one of you. I'm gonna be behind our bench like the women's games. GMG
