University covid waiver May be prohibited by senate

If this happens there will be no chance of college sports in the Fall.

If no or few precautions are taken then I agree that there will be no college football this year.

However, the purpose of the agreement as I understand it was to relieve the university of countless lawsuits if anyone got infected.  The fact I see is that those infected would blame the university regardless of where they might have contracted the virus.  

If clear heads win out I could see that each player would be tested on arrival and perhaps weekly thereafter.  Those with symptoms would be tested in a shorter period of time.  

If a university is liable for all of its athletes then how about the student body as well?  Then you've opened Pandora's box.  It would be cost prohibitive to test every student and athlete within a short period of time.  Do we also include the faculty and staff?  The cost goes on and on.

Personally, I don't see Congress making any college liable for the wellness of its students and employees.  You proceed at your own peril which translates to...yes, there will be college sports this year (and classes).

I hope you are correct. But without a layer of "protection" against lawsuits, which will surely come, I am not sure that most universities are going to take the risk.

It is hard to establish legal protection when you know as an institution you are putting people in harms way. No liability on all institutions and businesses needs to be the plan.
