Just win and beat out Skip. You don’t do that you should be fired for the salary you earn. Make it happen. GMG

This is a big pickup.  I am proud of this staff.   I think they are finally starting to realize that landing p5 back-transfers is a key component of becoming an elite G5 program.

From 247 Sports......

The Mean Green first offered Jordan Rucker back in March of 2017. They were his first offer and kickstarted an extensive recruiting process that expanded to 12 schools before eventually ending with Rucker committing and enrolling at Purdue for the class of 2018.

However, after two years as a Boilermaker, the 6-foot cornerback returns to Denton and the team that first offered him back in 2017. On Twitter, Rucker announced his decision to return home and play for North Texas.

From Denton himself, he played for Denton Ryan in 2017 before redshirting his first season at Purdue and playing in five games in his redshirt freshman season. Now, Rucker comes to Denton as a redshirt sophomore and will have to presumably sit out a season before being able to compete for playing time as a redshirt junior in 2021.

So is Rucker a grad transfer or is there still more good news to come?  Seems unlikely he graduated in 2 years, but maybe this was just a typo?

We brought in TWO P5 grad transfers at DB last season. They didn’t help.

We are also to the point now in recruiting where the guys we are getting out of high school were just as highly recruited as the P5 transfers we are getting, with the exception of Nick Harvey. The transfers are just older and had trouble getting on the field.

Not only did they not help, they arguably performed worse than the guys we already had

You can also look at it as they were still better options, at least according to the coaches, than what else we had

They thought they would be better options. Harrison basically didn’t see the field.

Grad transfers have to be good players to be an asset.  Most NT has brought in were borderline players, not players that got big minutes at their prior school like most of the ones SMU thrived on last year.
