Why can't he sign the good players right out of high school?  Seems like he could beef up the first line of recruiting and evaluation process.

He does sign the good players right out of high school.

Look before you print.   Almost all his players are directly out of area high schools.

If you look at the roster breakdown, only 24% of the team is juniors and seniors, so transfers are helping balance the roster.  Out of 29 current players listed, 22 are freshmen and sophomores including redshirts.
