Trying anything they can to get Dallas to embrace them. Not going to happen.

I have to give Transfer U credit, they found a way to improve. Still not sure how long term it will impact their scholarships.

Dykes and staff have been involved in supporting march in Dallas, so he is doing all the right things necessary to attract local black athletics .

Saw an interesting story in relation to black athletes and the schools they attend. Recommend that more take a stance and attend HBCU's

Why are they putting Dallas on their jersey? OU isn't putting Norman on their uniforms. TCU, no Fort Worth, NT, no Denton, Baylor, no Waco. And so on. Seems odd even for publicity.

Because even they know the name "SMU" is not well thought of. They are trying to break away form the image that comes to mind of "SMU" and associate themselves with "Dallas" instead

I don't think it's any big secret.

SMU, as both a school and a football team, has been an afterthought in the Dallas community for a generation now - we all know it.  There's a goldmine's worth of talent in all endeavors in Dallas and if we are ever to compete on a higher level then we have to start getting people who live right next door to send their kids to our school and program and get them to pay to come and watch them.  The "Dallas" theme is long overdue in that regard.

For the record, TCU had a slogan for a few years that went something like "Fort Worth's Team," or some such.  They started filling their 40k seat stadium with not only fans and alums but the average college football fan who was willing to pay $20 to watch a top-25 team play another halfway decent team, watching kids they recognized because they played at high schools they lived next door to -.we are attempting the same ploy.  Of course, it all depends on winning, so we'll how this goes long term.
