This has stuck in my craw for a while. To win a national championship in most years, a team has to be undefeated. Outside of a vigorous conference schedule, it is best to have a bona fide OOC win, preferably against a Top 15 team outside of their own "major" conference. Guaranteed wins then make up the rest. The value of guaranteed wins is enormous and us outside looking in should collectively drive that price higher. Wyoming and other teams that have gotten "above market" paydays are on the right track. $2 million plus should be the goal, especially when no return game is in the mix.

That will happen very soon. The paydays used to be well under a million--nobody knew that better than us under RV. Today, those games have really jumped up in value, primarily because the Power 5 make so much from their network contracts.

I also agree those pay checks should be bigger. But some on here hate " Bodybag" games regardless of the payout. I say...remember the Arkansas game was suppose to be a "Bodybag" game when it was scheduled. I like them but not sure about the students playing the game.

Yea...but we handed Arkansas their ass. Other than beating Texas many years ago, I know what the score was, Arkansas game was one the best road games I've been to. Didn't make the Tech wins.

Do we count the Baylor win as a P5 back in 03

Some years ago, I asked the team physician about "money games."  I asked if there was any truth to the belief that money games were more likely to get our players hurt any more than conference games or home games against "lesser" opponents.  He said no.

Injuries when D1 plays D1 seems even to me as far as injuries.  However, D1 vs. FCS is another story.  The FCS guys do not have the depth and are often smaller.  I remember vividly what Nebraska did to us when we were 1-AA..it was not pretty.

It seems that the win over Oregon State at home in Sept. of 1995 is forgotten. It was a 4th quarter come from behind win (30-27) that far to few witnessed as most of those in attendance had already left Fouts. That was a P5 win right after we had just reentered FBS. The schedule that season was brutal (Alabama, LSU, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisville, etc.).

My dad said it was ONE of the most impressive wins he has seen by UNT ever. First year back in FBS, and he was glad he was able to make it. Of course I was young
