Coach Walsh resigned recently.  There appears to be more to the story but that is that is all that is being reported at this time.

Any info on our history/relationship with him at Rockwall or Horn? Looks like he was there for 7 years and 5 years at Horn before that?

Also,

"In addition to his extensive resume on the field, Webb is also the president of the Texas High School Coaches Association."

Was Walsh an Oklahoma State alum because a lot of his players seemed to have gone there? Hopefully Webb will encourage his players to at least not shun UNT. Not saying that Walsh did that, but I suspect that he may have.

It looks like my suspicions about Walsh may be wrong. I just looked at UNT's roster over the last 10 years and we have had about 7 players from Guyer over the same time period. Now about 3 went somewhere else prior to arriving at UNT. In that same time frame, I only saw one other player from all the other Denton schools and that is Tyreke Davis from Ryan. So, Walsh's players came to UNT more than all the other Denton schools combined. In that same time frame, Webb would have been at Mesquite Horn and Rockwall. I did not see any players from Rockwall at all and the players I saw from Mesquite Horn would have been in high school at Horn after he left. Elex Woodworth could have been a freshman during Webb's last year, but I doubt he would have had any influence on him by the time he was a senior.

Almost all of those guys were walkons. Shilleci in 2013 and Dillman in 2015 are the only players we have signed out of Guyer since they opened in 2005.

Thanks for that information. I didn't know as much.

For what it's worth, it was discovered that Walsh was drinking at a casino during school hours, only wish he could have gambled on UNT a bit more..

All joking aside, I seriously doubt this will improve the pipeline we all wish would happen with the Denton schools.  Reality is that very few athletes from Denton county want to play at the next level right here in the same place at a school like UNT.  We can blame Walsh all we want but we get roughly the same number of recruits from Lake Dallas, the other Denton schools, Lewisville ISD schools, and even Argyle as we do from Guyer.
