Probably the biggest game there since the 1980's though.

Yep.  The Southland conference used to have the conference tournament on the homecourt of the regular season champ.

Hmm. For some reason I always thought those Southland tournaments were somewhere else. Weird.

I think they moved to a neutral court tournament in 1993 or so.  It was right before we left the league.

‘95-‘96 SLC Tournament was played in Shreveport.  That was our last basketball season in the SLC.

I remember we lost in the final.  I think Jankovich got us to the tourney final a couple of years in a row, but unfortunately never got the win.

He was doing a good job at North Texas.  He always played a tough non-conference, which was required, but we always won a few we should not have.  I always liked him as a coach.. I think we have a good one again, but I always new he would have success again.

This is going to be the biggest crowd of the year...which makes me nervous.

Crazy comeback last night for WKU vs. La Tech.  We need to play like we did last night for 40 minutes and lock down Hollingsworth.  I would expect to see Reese assigned to him with help from every direction.  Hope we have a large crowd that is loud.

It’s fitting that this would be our last home game. This has been a tremendous season for fans. The quality of basketball games this season has been so far above what we have seen here in a long time. We knew our non-conference schedule would be tough, but the Charlotte game, La Tech battles, the OU game, etc have made for so much quality basketball for us to watch.

A big deal was always made about OU, Arkansas, Utah State, Rhode Island, VCU, and Dayton games from the minute we found out about those games, but we also hosted two current conference leaders in Little Rock and NC A&T, both of whom we beat by 20+. I fully expect this to be another high quality basketball game where both teams force the other to absolutely earn every bit of this huge win.

This is the biggest game I can ever remember being at the Pit.  So exciting.

With my work schedule and this being on a Sunday, the stars have aligned and I might be able to go to my first Mean Green event in 2+ years.
