I see the women won on the road and the 09-10 mens team was honored last night according to the DRC.  Was there not a mens basketball game last night?   Seems the DRC might have missed it.  What is going on?

Some B.S. about when the DRC goes to print.  BV explained that the DRC is printed first so our local games will never make the hometown rag.  Great job of managing when papers go to print.  DRC will be gone, in its present form, in three years.  This is what playing in a West Coast/Pacific Time Zone league is like.

2 things here.
1. This was a home game.  Don't blame the time zone on the DR-C's ineptitude.
2.  All newspapers are dinosaurs.  They will all likely go the way of shopping malls as more and more old folks die & online content is easier to access.  There is exponentially more of it for each game we play anyway.

Brett needs to look around for other job opportunities because his time writing for the DR-C will not last much longer.

Again,

The press schedule at the Morning News has changed. We now go to press long before games that start at 7 p.m. conclude.

We are still covering all night sports events.

We directed readers to online coverage on the cover of today's section:

Here's the link to the game story from last night's game ...

From the e-edition

Here's the situation:

The DRC is printed by The Dallas Morning News. Up until the last few weeks, the DRC was among the last publications printed each day. The schedule has since been changed by the DMN. The DRC is now the first publication to go to press, ahead of USA Today, all editions of the DMN, The Wall Street Journal and everything else.

That switch makes it impossible to get late sports in the printed version of the paper.

We are still covering night events. The place to get that coverage has just changed.

Late sports are still added to our website and our e-edition every night.

We are not happy about it, but we don't have a choice.

Subscriptions to our website and e-edtion are actually cheaper than the printed paper.

Here's a link to the game story on UNT-Rice

And last night's hoops rewind

Here's a link to the UNT-Rice content in the e-edition, which is like a combination of a paper and our website.

If you are already a subscriber, you have access to our website and e-edition.

We have subscription options that start at 99 cents a week.

We're still here and don't plan on going anywhere. We were just forced to change the way our readers access our late sports content.

I know this was a home game, but this is what it will be like when we are on the road on the west coast and the game finishes late.

I appreciate your help, but this is ridiculous.  The hometown newspaper doesn't provide coverage for the hometown team.  How about they reverse the order and print the DMN first so SMU's games would show in its print version?  Think that would last?  Nope, total BS.  I feel for you Brett, but they could easily print the freakin' USA Today last.

Right, but my point is, the people who DON'T subscribe to the DR-C (which apparently that number is growing daily),  won't care about that repercussion...   We'll be too busy being exited we're competing in the more-viable MWC.

The DMN owns the DRC.  Not sure this argument flips equally.

Is any one else sad that Denton seems to simply not care? If subscription numbers were through the roof for sports coverage, they would probably fight this change.  But they were not, and they didn't.

a casual fan reading the DRC might see a story about UNT basketball and say mmmm they are doing well maybe I should go see them.  Now they would not even know we had a basketball team.  Cover the local sports and news that is the only reason I get the DRC and now it down to one reason.

Here’s the DMN coverage (notice anything wrong?):

It's a mini blurb, Sun Belt record and not recognizing UT-San Antonio by their preferred name.

For possibly the first time in 140 years the members of my fire station, which are mostly under the age of 35, chose to cancel our subscription outright to the FW Star Telegram over its repulsive content,  not so we can simply read it online.
