Hmmm, my guess would be no.  Graham Harrell was such an ineffective OC here that half of this board bitched & moaned about his playcalling for quite some time.  Surely someone who was incapable of being a capable OC in CUSA wouldn't be considered for a HC in CUSA?  😋

Right? His offense was 29th and 24th nationally the last two years he was here.

Do you forget Harrell's offense was also the master of disappearing in the second half of games? Our 4 loses in 2018: (LA Tech- 6 second half points, UAB- 0 second half points, ODU- 3 second half points, & Utah State- 6 second half points).

Yes I do remember all of those. I also remember thrashing SMU and Arkansas on our way to a 9 win season.

Wow. GH has received nothing but praise on the Nations level. Look what he did at USC with multiple QB's.

@El Paso Eagle -- um, I 100% agree with you.  I was using sarcasm to point out GH IS good and this board overreacted (shocker) about GH not being very good and we need someone else, yada, yada, yada.  In fact, the guy was so "bad" he got promoted to the OC of a P5 school.

If you remember those games well, than you would agree that this year's SMU team is light-years better than last season's (that's why they will be bowling). I loved our win at Arkansas too, but Arkansas turned out to be trash last season, and was still trash this year too (that's why they fired Morris during the season). Yes, 9 wins was nice, but we only beat 1 FBS team with a winning record last season (Southern Miss). Any honest person will concede that North Texas did not play as hard of a schedule last year. And again, Harrell's offense disappeared in the second half of games when we played good defenses. Those are just the facts.

The facts are also everyone was up in arms and worried SL was leaving for K-State. My how things change in one year. It is ridiculous.

      If you honestly think what happened to SMU was in any way fair treatment given what other programs were doing at the time (or what has happened in the subsequent 35 plus years since) then are you divorced from reality. SMU was made an example of and it did absolutely nothing to curtail paying players or offering inducements to high school recruits. Nothing. The NCAA has long since acknowledged had they known the fallout from SMU that the death penalty would've never been on the table. It took all of one year playing in a power conference to see SMU's potential now that the administration, boosters, and athletic department are all in alignment.

      It was the highest paid assistant position in all of G5. We're in DFW and its recruiting potential. We'll get looks. I haven't dug into who's available, though. I'm sure NIL budget would play into this, too, but I don't have any insight into that.

      I guess it depends on the DC. The LaTech guy may want to make the jumo to the AAC. Same for the Sam Houston DC. The Rice DC just had their HC fired.

      sure. so maybe it's just semantics, but nothing above equates to "elite" for me. both from the standpoint that "elite" is rarified company and too when we start using language like that the @untbowler's of the board will show up only after every loss to blame our deified coach and the AD that didn't go after Will Wade I guess. just trying to help keep ten toes on the ground for everyone and make sure the basketball conversation stays intelligent and not at all resembling the football forum.

      That just sounds like delusion to me. If the defense breaks into the top 80 next year statically, I will be very surprised. Of available job openings at this level will be low on list. I would much rather join a brand new staff with 2 years of stability guaranteed than come here.
