Given the new CFB paradigms of early signing day in December, I fully expect to see coaching change announcements this week.

You want to let recruits know that the program is serious and inject some energy into a dismal season at a pivotal time right ahead of our most important signing period.

Had we won and kept ourselves in contention for a bowl game, we could have protracted this process through the end of the calendar year. To me the only potential silver lining to yesterday is pushing up the HR processes.

I was thinking the opposite. These recruits have bonded with this coaching staff.  Upsetting that would be more disruptive.  I expect any coaching change won't be announced until after the season and probably not until they have to.

Have we fired an assistant since Seth and Wren have been here? I don’t think we have, although seems like Ekeler leaving was a mutual decision. Not for lack of effectiveness but the co-DC thing.

I would be surprised to see them be so quick to pull the trigger after never having to before. Although they probably should.

As for recruiting, I don’t expect decommits just because a position coach is let go, even if it’s that player’s position coach. It could happen but I wouldn’t expect a mass exodus over position coaches or even coordinators. Usually only a head coach leaving is the only coaching change that brings on a wave of decommitments.

Ekeler and Perry were both pushed out the door.

Nate brown was the same way last year.

If (somehow) UAB hangs 40+ with their okay offense, Reffett should be gone. I heard from a person that is very connected with the team that Reffett is on the hot seat and it's not looking good

But Ekeler and Perry were not because they weren’t cutting it as coaches. Ekeler was because they weren’t doing the co-DC thing again and Littrell chose Ref, and Perry was a holdover from Mac who it was clear early on it wasn’t a match for either party.

I didn’t know about Brown, but we didn’t hire Jennings until February. Not sure when Brown was let go but in the case of all three of the coaches you mentioned they were all there for the Bowl Games. For what Christopher is talking about it would need to be a quick decision for Littrell of letting them go. And it should be.

Tommy Perry I think was a mutual decision also.

I wish there was a way to push Perry back in. His East Texas recruiting was one of our few recruiting bright spots over the last decade.

I would love for Perry to come back.

Perry stated that he was happy here and would be content to finish his career here.  He was from East Texas and enjoyed being close to home.

so a swing and a miss by DL on Perry and an even bigger one choosing Reffett over Ekeler

Who are we kicking to the curb to bring Perry back?   He's a RB's coach and ST's coordinator...  Cobbs?  Biagi?

EDIT:   And for Ekeler, aren't y'all forgetting that guy was living in a RV for his year here?   Pretty sure he was intent on making this a 1-year stopgap.

This should have been a forgone conclusion by now.  Must be great to work somewhere where its so hard to get fired for under performing.
