It’s Mason’s last home game so I will be there and I’m taking my father with me. Yes this season was a bust but Mason deserves a proper send off. I hope fans do show up, if at least just for Mason and to say thank you.

This was my 80th men's basketball game since my freshman year in 2014. Best game I've seen in person, and I was in Ruston for the big comeback against LA Tech.
Overcome an 18-point lead against a bitter rival on national TV with a decent crowd. Imagine a full Pit.
And that will end right when the current media contract with the AAC expires. You know this.
National exposure... We are the least watched game when we are aired. I've seen a running average of less than 100K on several of our games. ESPN can't wait to rip this bloated contract out from underneath the AAC and delegate us to ESPN+.
And 5 years? We have been .500 or better in 19 of the 25 seasons this century in basketball. That is consistently putting together a competitive product year after year after year. That will never happen in football. Ever.
Given football money will soon be dried up, winning and geographic matchups for all of us peasants will soon mean everything.
You are living in fairytale land if you think playing in another suburb would significantly increase attendance. Can anyone look up our attendance average for the season we played at old Texas Stadium? If we average more than 20k I would be shocked. The anti-UNT athletics culture of Denton, I can vouch for. But students know this program doesn’t compete at the highest level and usually lose to best known good programs that come to Denton. What is our biggest home win within the last 20 years you would expect a college age football fan to know about? When Seth’s best team crap the bed at home against La Tech(Joe Green statue dedication and etc). But by that time they had already given Seth two extensions for leading team that didn’t win conference or bowl games. 🤷🏽♂️
What a finish. The way go get around the ESPN and ESPN2 and all the alphabet soup is to come to the games. There’s nothing like all the fans standing and yelling “DEFENSE” or NORTH, TEXAS, NORTH, TEXAS, in unison.
