Rivals and Scout aren't what they used to be.  Pretty much everyone goes by 24/7 now.

Scout was acquired by 247 a few years back

Rivals favors schools that have Rivals based websites.

Yup.

If you have a dedicated guy on Rivals with subscribers paying for him, they're gonna have better ratings. It's why UTSA and LaTech are always at the top of Rivals.

It's kind of odd. Paying 5 bucks a month to justify to yourself that somehow your school is better than everyone else by artificially boosting player ratings.

Rivals is ran by people that look at the bigger recruits. That’s why you never see teams with “good” ratings and players

Recruiting rankings from 247, the Littrell years.

2016: national rank #102; average recruit rating .7896

2017: national rank #115; average recruit rating .7879

2018: national rank #101; average recruit rating .7981

2019: national rank #75; average recruit rating .8282

2020: national rank #61; average recruit rating .8340 (as of today)

As I have stated, Littrell had to overcome years of neglect by North Texas coaching staffs towards Texas high schools.  It took a couple of years to build those relationships, as illustrated above, and we are now starting to see the results.  Unfortunately, the higher ranked recruiting talent are underclassmen at this time.  We caught lightening in a bottle by discovering Fine and taking a chance on him and also signing Bussey in that first class.  The 2017 class also has had some solid contributors with the likes of Siggers, Darden, Guyton, the Mose brothers, etc...  However, the majority of our highly ranked recruits are very young at this time.  We also supplemented these classes with JUCO's and that is hurting us now, but SL did that to win now at that time.  I like the trajectory of our recruiting classes and believe we will continue to see this improvement under SL.  This wasn't my "olddenton" view, but the reason for me preaching patience and realism.

That all may be well and dandy, but recruiting well to positional needs matters.

Can't put WR's and safeties as a 3-tech and OT.  . We are not setup to win on the LOS on either defense of offense moving forward into the future. And to be frank, there's no real timetable given the current roster and commit list, as to when we will win the LOS on either side of the ball. <---- And that is not my debbie downer comment of the week. But, realism, as Lifer said.
