Final 1977 UPI coach’s poll ranking had North Texas ranked #16.  It had Notre Dame as #1.

As Cal-fan knows, the bottom 25% of AP poll come and go, just like they did.There is still ball to be played, and if they or SMU finish nationally ranked more power too them.I may dislike the Mustangs, but I will give them credit where is do.

UNT was ranked as high as 16th in the nation in 1978, then they went to Florida state the next week and got beat, fell out of the top 20; I believe this is correct?
