Down with the King: Mean Green get chance at beating quarterback-less Houston

Quarterbackless Houston? That's crazy to imply. Clayton Tune was rated higher than our starting quarterback as a recruit, and Tune has also started several games in his Houston career.

Mason Fine certainly has more experience, and can be deadly accurate, but Tune is also talented and will be distributing the ball to a well established arsenal of receivers.

Odd fact, Clayton Tune was a North Texas fan while his older brother Nathan played there, and was recruited heavily by North Texas before signing with Houston. His backup at Houston was committed to North Texas for a long while before his father accepted the head coaching job at Houston.

Why can't the NT Daily properly support the football program?  What a shitty headline.

I can't say this means they don't support the team, but it does imply that they aren't knowledgeable about the subject.

Houston is a team that started the season with aspirations of achieving a New Years Six bowl. They lost a slugfest with #4 Oklahoma, lost a shootout with ranked Washington St, and were edged in a freak loss to a good Tulane team.

They may have lost a star player or two, as have we, but they certainly aren't suddenly a weak opponent. They are still strong and they are still dangerous despite losing a key player or two.

This guy was also a higher rated recruit than Fine.

We don't really know much about Tune because he has really only played 2 games.  1 was an absolute shellacking put on them by Army when playing for a lame-duck coach and a bunch of his teammates had checked out.   The previous game was another blowout loss to Memphis and he had an awful 41% completion% in that game.   We still respect/love Nathan Tune around here, but that doesn't mean we need to hold Clayton up to the same esteem... especially when compared to D'Eriq King, who is night/day better than him.

Jason Bean was also a higher rated recruit than Fine.   What would the score be if the roles were reversed?

That's disrespectful.....journalism wise...IMHO.

Bless their little hearts, but they write for the NT Daily and probably don't know that a team has more than one quarterback, that more than one rarely are on the field at the same time.

They would be so much better off, and avoid this type of embarrassment, if they asked Matthew Brune to proof read and edit their materials before they publish them to the web.

The NT Daily wasn't created to be a mouthpiece or a UNT fan publication. It's meant to give North Texas students experience in the media world to be better prepared for their next chapter after graduation.

Are they perfect? No. Are they students learning on the fly? Yes.

Maybe give them a little break.

Hopefully they have fixed the harvey situation. Houston has the speed to expose him if they haven't and tune will be able to hit those receivers if they are as open as they were against smu.

All starts up front. Get pressure and our DBs are all-stars.

No pressure, toast.

Does this guy not watch or pay attention to football? I lost complete respect for them during the Khairi incident, but this is getting worse lol!

Also the key to this game is: GET THE BALL FIRST
