Will they be ranked after they  kick TCU’s ass?

Yes. Has me wondering, our 2 losses are against what looks like a tough SMU and a solid rankee Cal team who just beat Ole Miss. Maybe UNT isn't that bad this year? I guess time will tell.

So if SMU is actually this good, and we just lost by 6 to a 4-0 Cal team who just won on the road against a good SEC team, maybe just maybe though of us (me being chief among them) who were crying that this team had no chance at a conference championship were way off? Hmm...

SMU/Cal look like tough games and we are already 1/3 of the way through the regular season.

2017's team that went 1-2 played a mediocre SMU team, and a solid Iowa team. Overall this years team and schedule is waaaaay better

Watching the SMU/TCU game.  SMU is legit, scoring 31 points in the first half against a pretty solid TCU defense.  Buechele is the real deal- don't forget he STARTED at UT as a TRUE freshman.

If SMU gets to 4-0, they may crack the top 25.  Unbelievable what a bunch of P5 transfers can do...

Im like... 78% positive something shady is going on. Would not be remotely surprised to see them investigated by NCAA... Smu history has always been shady. And not one single school had near the p5 transfers they do

If SMU continues at this pace it will be interesting to see how many schools try and follow their "transfer" method

I hereby dub this the "hyundai method"

Come at me SMU!

I’ve been chewing on this, but part of me wonders if SMU just lucked out. Aren’t transfers really tough to grade/predict?

Depends. If your transfers never played at P5s due to work ethic or attitude then why believe they'll be any better at a G5 school?SMU got a variety of transfers, several of which had injury issues which prevented them from playing previously. For SMU a few of their transfers were productive at their previous schools.

Their QB transfer Bueschele was a starter at Texas for a year and some games so I think many expected him to play well at SMU. SMU also got Abercrumbia, a DT from Rice who was 3rd team all C-USA last year. Their linebacker McBride from Auburn played in the SEC but suffered a neck injury in 2018. He recorded a couple tackles in their SEC championship game against Georgia in 2017.

As much as I hate to see SMU do well at anything, this makes our loss to them look a lot better. If they end up ranked, it leaves a window for us to crack the top 25 by the end of the year if they and Cal stay good.

I can’t see any way that their success is good for us.

SMU recruiting: We are a top 25 team

UNT recruiting: Hey we lost to a Top 25 team! So there’s that...

Well let me put it another way, is it better for us to have lost to a good team or a shitty team? We got blown out by them and we cannot change that.

UNT always the brides maid never the bride. I’m even more upset NT didn’t play better. What a turn around Dykes has done to that program. They absolutely stunk last year.
