Yes, that’s the play that was called.  The issue there was pressure on Mason.  Plays have routes within them at various depths and various options based on coverage.  If the quarterback is under pressure and can’t execute the play they throw it away sometimes to preserve field position.  Did you play?

You, like I, do not know the play that was called. Because we didn't see the route tree.

But history tells us if there's not a check down charlie floating around 4 yards behind the LOS that it's a slow developing route combo. On 3rd down, why call for that kind of combo/route tree when you probably know pressure is coming and there's only 9 yards to the line to gain. Give your players a chance for YAC. Give your players a chance.

Or let's just keep doing what we're doing for 10 points and not change our tendencies.

In a season and 3.75 games you ever seen one of our DB's look back for the ball when they are running with a receiver?

Sadly enough you know that none of our CBs saftey do that on any long passes this season.

The ball wasn't catchable in bounds.

And?... You can't constantly give the refs an opportunity to throw a PI flag on every play teaching your DB's bad technique.  Furthermore how do you propose we ever get an int with a gifted errant pass or tip ball near the line of scrimmage if DB's in close coverage are never looking for the ball?

The only reason you’re griping about that is because that’s the route you saw.  He threw the ball to the beat available sideline route to avoid grounding.  If all routes were under 10 yards all defenders would be under 10 yards.  The routes were there.  The pressure was the issue.

I am so done with Shorter.  Is eating buttered popcorn on the sidelines?  He made one catch. Yippee

He’s a Redshirt Fresh. Give him a chance.
