I was trying to run AdAware and it freezes every single time it gets to windows/system/ddhelp.exe. (Norton scan also froze every time and I think it may be the same reason.) I went to check it out with windows explorer and it froze when I did right click and properties.

What do I do? This computer needs cleaned out and AdAware and Norton freeze. What does ddhelp.exe do? How do I get around this?

it's part of a computer's directdraw/graphics suite. its basic function is to help your computer run games and any other software that may be 3D-graphics intensive. it's also a system process, which also means that it will run no matter what (as far as i know).

unfortunately, i can't really figure out why ddhelp might be interfering with your antivirus software. it really shouldn't.

i'd recommend downloading new drivers for your video/grapics card. this is strange because antivirus and graphics software almost never interfere with each other like this. new drivers should relieve this problem.
