I would say NIL is 2nd or 3rd depending on how you break apart staff responsibilities. I'd say on field coaching is 1, talent evaluation/scouting is 2 (I work with a guy who did HS scouting for Alabama and this goes beyond the coaches), NIL is 3, facilities is 4.
You could give Eric Morris and Caponi unlimited NIL funds and we would not be in the conference championship game. Michigan, Florida State, USC, and others show it's not as simple as buying players.
How good a coach is Laslee? Could he get hired away or do you credit SMU success more to the NIL. Is the NIL now the most important component in college football? I would say yes it is with coaching 2nd and facilities 3rd?
