Mason Fine in the 4th quarter

Why was he playing in the fourth quarter??? Am I the only one upset about this? He played half the way into the fourth quarter up 24 points

Not just Mason, but almost the whole starting lineup.  And kicking that field goal late in the 4th was borderline tacky.

But considering how porous that defense looked, it's all probably a reflection of the coaches' lack of trust that we can hold a lead.

Texas Tech beat an FCS by 35, Alan Bowman (who missed half of last season and derailed Tech's season) played the entire way. 

This board was abuzz about how the Lane Train had derailed and Ohio State crushed FAU. Justin Fields went longer than Mason Fine. 

Appy State in the SunBelt crushed an inferior opponent 42-7. The backup came in for one series, just like Bean. 

UTSA crushed Incarnate Word 35-7. Their QB went the whole way. 

Just a few games i looked at. Point being, it is entirely normal for the starter to go this long. Giving a backup legitimately valuable minutes where they run the offense and throw the ball is a considerable anomaly.

That's all well and dandy, but I don't care about those QBs and our QB was visibly hobbling. It was an unnecessary risk.

agree. Calling running plays for Mason wasn’t smart. Especially in a game that you’re up by 20+ points, in a non-conference game! 

If the defense plays like they did tonight, SMU will put up 80 on us.

I do agree that calling running plays for Mason isn't smart.  He runs enough on his own so we don't need to add to his total.
