I followed up.  It’s a mic stand with a steering wheel for the base.

Among the things that could have been used as a microphone stand base, other than, say an Atlas microphone stand base, I guess a steering wheel makes the most sense.  Thanks for the clarification.

If she's the drummer in Metal Shop, she's definitely bad ass... Their covers are better than most of the originals.

She is the drummer for Metal Shop, under the stage name Crash Gordon.

Was able to catch some of the band today.  Really really good.  Also, a pretty good performance on bass by @UNT 90 Grad for a song.
