The Universities, the coaches, and athletic directors are not committed to them. That is why the transfer portal doesn’t make sense. Nothing the NCAA has been allowed to do actually promotes education or ensures the athletes have access to the most valuable degree programs. Basketball scheduling is joke and now worse with coast to coast conferences. All this nonsense is a work around players being paid in a structure that would make them employees.
Like I have said before this could all be rolled back. But it can’t be done selectively to only benefit everyone else but the players financially. They could truly make an amateur league with all “profit” going to back to the school’s athletic scholarship funds. The wealthy universities and fans of the bigger athletic brands don’t want a more level financial playing field. Hell from CFP whining they don’t even want to play less popular FBS teams no matter what they accomplish on the field.
