so is beating the #10 team in the nation...it goes both ways

Only to those not paying attention.

The CBU loss was in pool play.  The ULL win was in the tournament semi finals against one of the nation’s top pitchers for #10 ranked team.

Any coach being polled will take that into consideration.  How much consideration remains to be seen.

La Tech only has one win over a quality team, #17 Auburn, and is getting first place votes.  North Texas could easily be there soon, especially after we beat UTA and Texas Tech this week.

that's like saying the regular games are pointless and they don't try, teams only try in games that may matter...all games matter

was the atm victory in pool play or semis?

The pool play period, especially in the early going is the chance for coaches to try different line ups. Once some hardware is on the line then it’s go time.  That’s why Trautwein pitched the final two games.

And there we are with 1 vote.  It’s a start.  Keep winning and we’ll get there and this is where it starts...PITCHING!  And our fireballer Hope Trautwein has been named the C-USA Pitcher of the week for a second week in a row.

We have three games coming up against a really good UTA team, starting with one in Arlington tomorrow.  If you can go......be there.

So does a new coach make the big difference or are players better this year?

I don't really think there was a huge turnover in the roster, so I would say the new coach.

Baseball and softball losses are weighted way differently. People don't take them into account near as much because people's #1 pitchers are way better. Hope is 6-1 for instance, the rest of our staff is 3-3. Probably not an exact science but in baseball/softball I think more credit is given for quality wins than a bad loss because of that.
