The problem is he is not that good on defense, ball handling, or penetration. If he does not heat up we will not get far in the tournament.

To be fair, it's not just Smart struggling on offense. The entire team seems lacking confidence in their outside shot except Gibson. The pressure of the record maybe in their heads. But to their credit, they still play great defense, hustle and win games grinding it out.

Wonder why some of you still belittle the oc schedule.   Not any of us knows how it prepared the team versus a tougher schedule.  Maybe the coach wanted to build up confidence and excitement on the team.

The only thing that matters is the conference record at this point.   NT is 6-3 and in a battle for top position.  Would they have a better record if they played a tougher oc schedule?  Any answer to that is only speculation.

NT is a much better team this year than last and that is with their best player of last year still struggling since coming back from injuries.

It's nice starting a bball season 18-3. That's the only silver lining. But our OOC schedule did not prepare this team as what an OOC schedule is meant for. And even with such a great start, we received minimal pub and though attendance is improving, it hasn't and with this schedule will not spike.

Hopefully we can have a good showing tomorrow at Charlotte, and a great home crowd next Thur vs Marshall. 20-4 is still a sexy record in very realistic reach.

I rather be prepared for the CUSA tourney, win it and go to the big dance then a bunch peanut wins against easy teams. 20-4 isn’t sexy if you can win the conference.

I'm not disagreeing. But for the sake of a sexy season, pub, future attendance numbers, 20-4 does turn heads. Until of course they look at who we have played.

We have to win our home games and put away the weaker teams on the road and we'll be fine. Easier said than done.

We are not yet in the big players in the conference, I think it will come in the next couple of years.  We lose Duffy, Miller this year and they have played a big role in our sucess this season.

We also don’t have a lot of size to replace them recruiting wise. We do have some solid redshirts who will be huge for us extra season though.

Why? Don’t like a real challenge?

With this team?

We would have a unremarkable record and not have gotten any attention. At least this way, there's attention to raise the perception of the program.

The team is what it is. You can either have this team and a worse record or have this team and the record they have now.

A tougher OOC would not have made this team better, but the OOC we had, may make the program better.

everyone is so effing entitled and myopic around here. 15-17 to 19-4 and people are disappointed.
