We almost managed to steal a game where we really didn't play well on the road against a squad that is currently leading the conference.  We're still a very good team.  

 

That said,, very disappointing.

Refs sucked. I agree. We got used to winning. This hurts, but these guys have what it takes to be CUSA champs.

Also, to add, I think they just weren't used to the high school accommodations that UTSA provided.

Let’s learn from this loss, wake up offensively, and move on.  They hit a miracle shot at the end.  Not much you can do about that.

The will lose a handful of games before the tourney.  We won’t lose more than 2 more.

We didn’t play our best game but fought hard to get back in it. Only to have the refs allow their player to take 5 steps and hit the game winning basket. I hope we see these guys again. 

I also hope this loss doesn’t kill our home crowds next 3 games. A loss to UTSA is embarrassing.

The guy was back pedaling and scissor stepped to his right and draws the charge.  Maybe the call of the game because he’s out and we’re shooting for the lead.  

No idea why refs like to be a part of the outcome of a game?

Oh well, should have never come down to a squirrelly spin shot for the win.  We just didn’t play well enough to win on the road.

We all knew we were going to lose some conference games, but that UTSA team is going to finish in the middle of CUSA at best.  If we really are a good team, then we must not drop a second conference game to a bad team.

As the "refs" walked off, one was heard to remark "Kinda F'n Crazy, wasnt it? 🙂 ". The other responded "Yeah, but the game check will be finger lickin' good! 🙂 ".

They will get critiqued harshly by Curtis Shaw.  Those two missed travel calls can’t happen at any point in a game. Awful

I emailed multiple CUSA officials already and I have video of the last play. It should have gone into overtime. Horrible calls around. These refs cost our conference any chance at having a top 25 team, any national attention for our conference, and even the (very very very small) chance of being a two bid league. These refs should never work another game in this conference. Conference officials should be furious. 

 

I also understand we played poorly across the board and probably deserved to lose, but when the refs dictate the game nobody truly wins. The conference just took a major hit.

Yep. Disgusting! No one is going to take our conference serious with games like this. Even a UTSA fan should be furious. They aren’t going to make it anywhere’s in our conference and these bad calls cost our conference attention and money.

Bummer, for sure. I wasn't able to watch the game but looking at the boxscore it's nice to see Smart finally hitting again from 3 (5 for 9).

Top 25 ranking would be nice, but there are 68 teams in the tournament. Sucks to lose to a community college but all we have to do is win three straight (if we have a bye) in a stadium 30 minutes from campus to guarantee a spot in The Big Dance.

I just hope our fans still turn out for this 3 game homestand. I always worry about our turnout coming off of a bad loss. 16-2 or not.

Adding insult to injury, OU got a win over TCU. If we had pulled out this game, we might have picked up a little more support.
