A 4K shift in elevation is rough. Spent a week in Manitou Springs once. It took 3 days just to start to feel normal. The first 12 hours were /really/ awkward.

 

that being said, I think this is much more than an elevation problem

Yeah, the altitude the factor. But that ain't it. 

This is one of the big reasons this was the last bowl game a lot of us wanted. USU is just a way better team. Period. Whatever wrinkle you put in, whatever you try to call, you're outgunned. It's a big hill to climb. So it's the bowl game in the worst possible time slot against the worst possible kind of opponent - a no name (to the casual fan) who's really effing good. Two years in a row all of that applies. 

Oh, add to that the fact that in a season you lost your best RB, your best WR can't go and your absolute MVP QB goes down? That's a recipe.
