And another former UNT assistant's name mentioned for the job, Eric Wolford.

"The top candidates for the Kansas State job are believed to be Littrell, Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables, Oregon defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt, North Dakota State coach Chris Klieman and South Carolina offensive line coach Eric Wolford, a former K-State offensive lineman ex-Youngstown State head coach.

Yeah.  That article actually came out yesterday evening.    And, I don't think the author was getting the most current news either.  With all that is going on, 24 hours is old news right now.

North Texas is just not used to having coaches that are good enough to be hired away.

That's ok. Just know it's not personal, and there shouldn't be any "bad taste"

I won't be upset if Littrell says yes to $2-3 million at a P5 program, no matter where and you shouldn't either.

It means we can attract some good folks.

As long as he donates $1 back to us.  If not, screw em'.

He doesn't owe us a dime.

I read an article in the Wichita paper that Synder wanted JR. to take over.  They also supposed to have a plan for Leavitt to take over when Synder retired.  Didn't give a reason for it falling through, maybe cause Synder wanted JR to take over.

NT gave him a chance to prove himself as a head coach. He owes NT, just like any employer who takes a chance on an employee.

Actually, I think he would owe us over $2Million as part of a contracted buyout agreement.

Gave him a chance? He turned around one of the worst college teams in history.

ETA: That is to say, he took a giant leap to come here. A place that consistently lost not only games but coaches, he took a big career risk. He should change his name to Rich. Cause he fixed it.

Technically, it’s him, but he’ll negotiate in his new deal to have his new employer (whoever/whenever that is) pay it for him.

it's exactly why employees always turn around and give their employers a severance package when they move on or retire.

such backwards economic thinking. if anyone ever thinks they OWE their employer for an opportunity...especially if they've taken that chance and succeeded...is massively under-valuing themselves and their contribution.

Seth's "growth" as an employee has far large implications for the university than for him personally.

I guess Lilliput is not a right-to-work state.

Coaching legends don't always get their way upon retirement.

Some may remember when Darrell Royal retired that he wanted UT assistant coach Mike Campbell to take the reins.  No dice.  UT Regent Frank Erwin wanted no part of Campbell so enter UT's new head football coach Freddie Akers.

GMG!
