Not exactly what I'd call "successful".

Sure he's not successful here.  Keep telling yourself that.  I hope he leaves for K State just so you sorry sacks realize how good we had it.

To be clear, I want and expect those things too but even good teams in other "better" conferences get sidetracked (see: West Virginia, Auburn, LSU). We're less than three full seasons removed from the dumpster fire that was 2015.  The close losses and the second half issues were beyond frustrating this year, I get that, but how can you see a 9 win season, or better yet, two 9 win seasons back to back, as not successful.  We've been close in every game this year.  We haven't been blown out once.  I'd take that any year.

Looking ahead to next season here at NT, I think we're going to be VERY STRONG offensively, but we are losing some critical pieces on defense that I have some serious concerns about.   The defense has been one of the bright spots for us this season.

That is dirrahea. This conference is horrible.

But to your post, you're saying it will take potentially 8 years for him to win the conference. My god, what has your football watching eyes seen over the years to be OK even saying that.

I say 2-3 years of good sound recruiting to win a CUSA championship of which we have yet to win.

Just projecting and guessing like everyone else on this board is doing, that's all.

Those are good programs and bad seasons* or being sidetracked are anomalies. We are a bad program with a good team. Therefore we have to take full advantage in hopes to turn us into a good program. Have we taken advantage? An argument could be made for both cases.

But a 9 win season makes UNT fans happy. It still doesn't change the perception of UNT. Exhibit A: KState fan perception of UNT.

*Those programs you named won 7, 8, and 9 games. Unfortunately, most UNT fans would accept that as peak performances. Those 3 programs in comparison, will not.
