Currently leading FAU 2-1 in the CUSA Volleyball Tournament, going into the 4th set. It’s on ESPN+ for those that are interested, volleyball team is riding a 7 game winning streak I believe. Could be peaking at the right time.

North Texas wins 3 sets to 1 against FAU. They will play Rice tomorrow afternoon on the second round of the tournament. Rice is the #1 seed.

Currently on an 8 game winning streak. The start of the season was too much in terms of SOS for this team, considering the centrality of the replacements. But in the second half of the season this team has definitely gotten on a roll and are full of confidence. It was unlucky to be seeded 5th, seeing as there was a 4-way tie for second. But rice has lost twice in conference and is not unbeatable. Fully possible they could get to the finals. Add that the other side of the bracket has already really opened up thanks to two upsets.

Very optimistic for next season.

Currently 14-9 NT in the second. NT got beetter at putting it up, still doesn't always have super power in attack. But the ladies are doing the same to Rice, making Rice really work hard to put a ball down, and currently Rice don't manage often enough. Particularly first ball defense is outstanding at putting it fairly precisely to two-and-a-half.

Rice dominating lately, now leads 21-20. NT having problems with a lot of unforced errors in defense and service reception, but also some problems setting the block up in the right place.

NT won the set 26-24.

It was tough, because Rice adjusted its defense to the previously very succesful backward -pass slide attcks and manged to dig up more of those after previously having the block misread those frequently. But NT managed to make some pressure on serve and gave Rice many chances at making an error.

I’m honestly surprised they pulled that one out 😅

Rice takes the third set. After going down 3-9, NT came back strong, but a bit too late. Rice was particularly dangerous through the center attacks. Whenever NT managed to properly set up its block with 2 players, Rice had serious trouble getting around it. NT itself has some trouble going through the center as Rice blocks that pretty well, andNT  is therefore forced to go outside and inside (or backrow) more often than would be ideal, allowing Rice to set up defense.

Rice wins. 25-21 in the fourth.

NT went down a lot early having several problems: still not being able to solve the Rice center, yielding to service pressure and losing the jousting battles at the net +Rice had some incredible defensive saves. NT then stormed back into it, putting their own service pressure and improving at the net, but it was a little too late again.

All in all great match with incredible defense on both sides.
