December grad. Looks like the coaches are as concerned about the OT situation as we are.

It's unfortunate that we can't seem to pull together a competent OL. LaTech and UAB have great lines. Why can't we?

I think one of the factors could be identity. I feel like it's an established identity with LT and UAB. We are a passing team so we easily grab receivers. They run well, and so they've got good trenches.

Just trying to logic my way through this one in my head.

Hell LaTech has been running the Air Raid since Dykes was there. I obviously don't follow them as much as I follow UNT but they don't seem to scramble last minute for "diamonds in the rough" like we do.

I get you but their run game has been more established than ours. During the Mac years we had a great set of linemen there but we were left scrambling in that department due to attrition, graduation, and bad recruiting. But there's only so much we can blame there given that they've had plenty of time since then.

This is why I was concerned they were trying so hard to keep Mayfield one more year.

I became concerned for the future when Littrell tried to start Brammer over Murray, then promptly put Murray back out there.  He's not happy with the depth.

Brammer doesn't have the size/strength to deal with someone like Jaylon Ferguson. Conversely, Murray doesn't have lateral quickness to deal with someone like Jaylon Ferguson. Basically as long as our tackles never have to play against an NFL level DE, we're solid.

Yeah, but Murray is still out there 2 games after LATech.
If Littrell thought getting Brammer out there would be serviceable this year, and develop him for the future, Brammer would be out there.   He thinks Murray gives him the better chance to win now though, future-be-damned.  That is necessary, but concerning.  I'm just glad we're not losing Woody next year.

I really hope Brian Parish can put on another 30 pounds. I really liked his tape out of high school.

Much like our LB situation, I wouldn't be surprised to see a true freshman on the OL next year.

I think they will try to grab a Dec grad tackle like this guy. No point in a May grad, they rarely seem to be ready in September.

If they want to land an impact guy that's pretty much what it takes these days.  We landed an impact guy a couple of years back Cody Hayes out of Navarro who wa s a late qualifier and ended up not making it to campus.  You can pretty much tell by the level of offers these guys have as to whether or not they have the makings of a difference maker.  In Hayes' situation he had an offer from Houston.

It's very difficult to get p5 level talent on the front lines.   If you can, you can be a UCF, Boise, USF type of program.  The problem with say a UCF is that they don't have the depth behind the starters.  That's where the OU, Texas A&M differ.
