Their win in Ruston can't be discounted and blanking Rice 42-0 raises my eyebrow. This will be a tough game for us. Can we win? Yes, but we have to eliminate the mistakes. It'll be a good challenge for us. This week would have been a good time for the IPF.

I think this will be a great game.  That said, are UAB's stats really that impressive?  In looking at how they have played so far, the combined records of those teams are 14 - 25.  I realize the same can be said about some of our opponents but this game will probably come down to who wants it more.  In that case, it should be a win for the Mean Green.

Gashing runs by Liberty up the middle concern me with UAB doing the same with better backs!  As usual protection of Fine will be critical! Would not mind seeing a bigger body in the backfield on passing downs to help in protection!! GMG

I'm amazed that a program that was just about to shut down 3 or 4 years ago has bounced back so dramatically.

Beat 'em.  And all the others.

GO MEAN GREEN

Funny things happen when about 60 of your players are JUCOs or P5 transfers.

Not really.  They are ranked 5th nationally in scoring defense and is only giving up 14.2 yards a game.  But in ranking the offenses they’ve faced,....if you rank lowly Savanah St who is 1-5 a ranking of 129th...UAB’s defense has only faced a 95th average offense.

Do the same for NT, who’s scoring defense is not far off of UAB’s at 19th,...and you’ll see that the Mean Green defense has faced a 66th average offense with a much tougher schedule.

BTW..Savanah St has the second worst offense in all of FCS at averaging just over 11 points per game.

Incarnate Word has the 32nd best offense in all of FCS.

Liberty’s offense would rank at around 59th in FBS.

I thought Liberty was provisionally FBS now, so their stats count?    Or do you not get ranked in these kinds of stats if you're only "provisional"?

I thought that Liberty is full fledged FBS now? Regardless, this is going to be a tough game on the road. The article sounds like we're playing Alabama instead of UAB. Hope the rain stays away for this one.

They are and list under FBS Independant.  But for whatever reason the NCAA.com site doesn’t currently list their stats.  So I looked at their scoring average, which is 31 points per game, and that would currently be at around 59th alongside Mississippi St.

A previous coach claims 3 FBS wins over then provisional Western Kentucky.  Stats count.
