I know this has been mentioned before but you have to wonder what the criteria for future Hall of Fame classes will be. I mean can you have a Hall of Fame player who stayed at your school for one maybe two years? If a player played at two or three other schools before coming to your school and then has a great last season is that someone you would want in your school's Hall of Fame? Will be interesting to see. Maybe the Hall of Fame becomes more of a recognition for a good season.
Like coaches getting hired away instead of having to fire them, good players moving on for more money or a "bigger" stage may be a good in the grand scheme of things. It means we got a good year or two of production out of the players which hopefully means we had a successful season. A good year or two on the gridiron or court (or softball diamond, volleyball court, soccer pitch, tennis court, golf links, track or pool --- did I forget anything?) is all we should really expect or count on going forward. We just need to reload with similar talent, rack up more wins than losses and have some success in post-season action.
DENTON, Texas — Senior guard Tiffany Hammond signed with the UNT women’s basketball team for the 2025-26 season, head coach Jason Burton announced on Thursday.
Hammond spent the last two seasons at Coppin State University where she made 54 starts in 64 appearances. She averaged 7.7 points with 2.9 rebounds to go with 65 assists and 43 steals in 32.4 minutes per game in 2025. An elite shooter, Hammond ranked in the top three in the MEAC in made 3-pointers in each of her two seasons with the Eagles. The 5-9 guard hit 69 3-pointers this season after making 52 in 2024.
Prior to her time at Coppin State, Hammond played two seasons at Sacred Heart where she appeared in 27 games. She also spent a year at the junior college level where she helped CCBC Essex capture a NJCAA national title with a 36-1 record.
Hammond will join a Mean Green backcourt that features returning freshman Chania Price, UTSA transfer Aysia Proctor, junior college signee Andi Schissler, and incoming freshman Cherie Spencer.
