I posted this below in another post but I thought I would make a topic for it to see if anyone else would like to see our band do this...

I went to Waco and watched the Baylor-Mizzou game this last weekend and our crowds are every bit as big as theirs. One very cool thing that they have done is place their band in the corner behind the visitors bench. Whenever there was a timeout, the band would play a little song and then just blow away so that the players in the huddle could not hear what the coach was saying. I mean a constant horn blowing, no song at all, just a long screaming horn blowing until the timeout was over directed right at the Mizzou huddle. The Mizzou coach was PISSED, I mean PISSED; but there is no rule against how a band plays during a time out. The Mizzou team huddle cannot pass half court during timeouts for their huddles and they were warned several times for huddling over the half court line trying to get away from the horns and the noise being blown directly at them. I would LOVE to see that in the Pit. At least one good idea came out of Waco! Baylor almost won that game and when you take into consideration that Mizzou beat OU in Norman this year that is a pretty big deal. Their coach is for real, I think he will have Baylor turned around in a year or two. If he is doing this well with all those walk-ons, I would hate to see how they do when they get ship players in there.

I may be wrong, but i think that is against the NCAA rules (or for us atleast the sunbelt conference rules). If you ever want some entertaining reading, take a look at the NCAA/sunbelt rules for the pep-band, they're pretty funny...

A couple off the top of my head for the conference tournament include only one amp. for the entire band (our guitar and bass)

You can't have tubas if you have a guitar or bass

Certain ratio's of Trumpets to the rest of the band

One drum set or a condences drumline(like the marching band)

I'm able to post these kind of things since everyone in my family, except me, was born in Arkansas. At ASU and UALR you aren't allowed any triangles, but you do get a banjo and two washtub basses.
