I really think that Marshall gets a lot of respect for a G5 because of their name recognition.  I can't see any reason to rate them above NT in pre-season and particularly after a lackluster win over an average Miami Ohio team.

Bah, I don't get it either. There is the stock market game on the C-USA cnsbbs board, and I shorted Marshall hard.

They recruit well on the OL and DL and will always compete and maintain that competitiveness due to that. They are not just a brand, but a solid program with almost some form of constant success.

I mentioned this on CUSA Report, but the main reason I don't believe in Marshall is that their offense is not good enough. Green might be good eventually, but I don't know that that matters. 

No team outside of 2013 Rice has won the league title without leading the league in points per game. That Rice team beat Marshall, who was the league leader. Basically, you need to score in this conference to win. I don't know that they can do that enough no matter how good that defense is.
