Are you really surprised? We’re not at their level.

At this point in time, I'd say we're above them.

It will always be the end of the world for them when we beat them. Because they STILL think they’re in the SWC. They still think they’re on a level above us. Although they’re now 1-4 (?) in Denton. Everything about their program is sans substance.

They still hold on to the 80s which have no credibility due to their cheating. They’d probably do it again if they thought they could get away with it. I saw something comparing our two programs since 1996. Literally dead on equal records. Look at their turnout last night. They’re a pathetic bunch.

They look down on us. And always will. And they’re not any better than us in the grand scheme of college football. Look...I get it. They used to be in a confererence with UT and A&M. They never did anything against them but get demoralized but they can still hold on to that “history”.

They use that to their advantage today.

They’re headed for a world of hurt in the coming weeks with their schedule.

Can’t stand his popped collared douches.

At one point SMU had 24 yards, while North Texas had 27 FIRST DOWNS.....music to my ears

They need to realize, win or lose, we have never been below them.  One guy cites all of their "superior" items:

a. facilities:  really?  I'd like to see how much more amazing their place is. UNTs stadium is much nicer.  No contest.

b.  Recruiting:  not buying it.  If they don't understand, remind them of the score last year, and the score this year.  Recruiting is great, but recruits have to be coached.  There is no clear cut evidence that they are superior.  Yeah, good for you, that Doak Walker guy turned out to be a great find...

c. Academics: this one you can literally hear my eyes roll.  Just because SMUs tuition is triple of UNTs doesn't make it 3 times better.  Sure, they have an excellent law school, notable business school.   But across the board, are the classes/programs 3 times better/more challenging?  In English Literature classes, do they have to write 3,000 word essays and at UNT, you only have to write 1,000? Do all of their professors have 3 more degrees than UNT professors?

Honestly, it's the constant overlooking of "lesser" and less storied programs, and the culture built around that idea that is propelling us forward and them backward. This coaching staff and administration doesn't ever look down on an opponent or a team. These guys are taught to respect every opponent, and hopefully every person.

The reason it's the end of the world for them is because they fundamentally view us, and many other schools as beneath them. So being faced with the reality that you aren't any better than us in fact, last night you were substantially worse, disrupts the illusion. SMU has the same sleeping giant potential we do, but you have to accept where you are in order to move forward.

So many of the their comments were "man, glad I didn't go to that gave", "so glad we went to the park instead". These are statements from their HARDCORE fans. Because they can't accept they aren't good, they can't move forward and get better. It's not worth their time. But based on their fan boards, attendance and misguided expectations it's entrenched in the culture of their school. Everyone here recognizes how bad we've been, and accepting it and then changing it has paid dividends for both UNT and anyone associated with the athletic department.

I alway wonder how many of the SMU posters actually went to school there.   A lot of them acknowledged that they care so little about SMU sports, they could not be bothered to even watch the game on TV.   Yet, they bother to post on the message board.

If they have a facility advantage, it is very small.

If their season continues to go downhill, they have to be worried about losing the best of commits.

You can always claim better academics, because there is really no way to measure.   It is a card the privates like to flaunt, while sitting up a curriculum  that their athletes can stay eligible with.  It is hard to sell academies to a recruit, when he is going to major in some special program designed much more to keep him playing than earning a future salary.

Those dumbasses over there don't even know their own history.

Their most embarrassing loss was to an FCS North Texas team in 1990.

They had all the advantages even after their return from the death penalty.  Money, 20 more scholarships, conference affiliation and recruiting.  They had ALL THAT and an NFL Hall of Fame legend for a coach,...and they still couldn't beat us.  LOL!!!
