Still, it was important that there was a good crowd with many people returning after a long time and UNT putting on a good show. Hopefully the organization was good enough, so people had a nice experience and will come back. That would go a long way for the athletic department and several fronts from financial to recruiting.

Would have been if horsey would have done their part. “Ohh, muffy, Jeeves says the apogee stadium crowd will get soot from the coal mines on your mink coat. We best not go and listen to the action on the radio as we sip brandy.”

I’d say actual buts in seats, like 25,000-26,000. Tailgate was the busiest I have ever Seen and it took 20 minutes to get into the stadium at the S entrance. Probably personel problems but it was fun to see that many folks trying to get into the game.

Why are we poo-pooing a record crowd?

Not sure anyone is poo-pooing but the actual attendance was not  that  big clearly, there were way more people many more people at the Houston game opener.

I disagree. Both sides were close to full and the tail section was over half full. That is a unique section, but it would be better served as a typical "horseshoe" section. The upper reaches are way away from the action.

I can't remember the last time the student/visitor side was as full as it was tonight... and yes I was there.

Good for you

There was a good chunk of people right behind the student section where I was and were just standing all the way down to the end of the SMU sections. If they're in seats it's pretty damn near full. I probably wouldn't go 29k but it was close.

Regardless the team put on a helluva show and hopefully the crowds will consistently be in that range.

you should have come to tailgate

Will stop by next time.  Had lunch and spent the afternoon with my sainted 90 year old Mom.  Got to the game and walked straight to our seats.

I think that we also forget about all the people on the club level and in the suites.

The Houston game was very similar, but it was also what, 7 years ago? It’s easy for revisionist history to sink in on that.

Mess the best crowd I’ve seen there, and also the longest I’ve had to wait for a beer. Lol.

Not sure what the rules are, but if we can make that kind of crowd a habit, we will have to look into the mobile vendors that walk up and down the stairs. Lol
