They were late to come over at the end of the National Anthem. By the time they were approaching the stadium the band was in the middle of the Alma Mater so they turned in what looked at first to be a delay loop just like the helicopters a few weeks before. Once they turned the air boss walked down from his observation post on top of the wing (top left as you are looking at it from the field). They flew home. Bad timing by someone aborted the mission.
That would simply be a doors effect. People enjoy music and the hype it brings to athletes. I can assure you a player on the floor much rather hear music that will feed their adrenaline than a school chant. That’s an every sport thing.
It’s the Mark Cuban/Mavs’ effect on basketball. Not a fan of it. I don’t mind some music, but not constantly. I enjoy the timeouts to talk about the game to the people next to me.
I was going to mention this. I was one of the "old men" that stood in the student section to help fill in with school being out. We tried starting the chant because it was perfect timing. End of a 13-0 run following a steal and Jossell 3. We tried and tried but yeah the DJ and music eventually drowned us out.
Then they had the nerve to start the chant with 35 seconds left after Jossell moved two free throws and OSU hit a game-tying 3. Crowd was completely depleted including myself and I had no interest in restarting the chant.
